First Lutheran ELCA - Miles City

The heritage of First Lutheran Church dates back to 1898 when Missionary Pastor L.A.K. Carson of the Norwegian Lutheran Church began his work in Miles City. He rode the Northern Pacific Railroad, holding services from Glendive to Helena.

The Ladies Aid Society raised the money to pay for the land for the first church through various projects. English and Norwegian services were held until 1921. First Lutheran has been broadcasting the worship service over the radio since 1955. The Moller pipe organ was installed in 1979.

Our congregation is proud of our western and agricultural heritage, our Scandinavian independence and Lutheran theology.

Sunday morning worship led by Pastor Steven Rice is at 10:00am. Communion is offered every Sunday. September through May Sunday school for grades 1-6 begins at 9:00am. Preschool and Kindergarten have time of age appropriate learning during worship.

Coffee and Fellowship is available at 9:30am and 11:00am.
