Baker is Montana's eastern gateway city on the Yellowstone Trail, Highway 12. Highway 7 south from I-94 at Wibaux, is a picturesque drive where you'll see rugged ranchland, farmland, and oil pumping units. Traveling by air, you can fly into Baker's Municipal Airport, equipped to handle most personal aircraft.
Surrounded by golden sandstone formations and vast high prairies, Baker offers a wide variety of outdoor recreation. The area is perfect habitat for big game hunting such as mule deer, white tail deer and antelope. Make Baker Lake, located in Baker, your destination. There are public docks to put your boat in for skiing, fishing, and boating. Several parks surround the lake where you can enjoy a beautiful summer day on the lakeshore swimming and picnicking. An amphitheater is the center of Baker's Millennium Project, situated on the shores of Baker Lake. It is used for movies, plays, and other community entertainment. Basketball and sand volleyball courts are nearby as well as a picnic pavilion equipped with tables, grills and restrooms to accommodate any gathering.
Baker boasts a 9-hole golf course, three city parks, campsites, an RV dump station, and the Baker Recreation Center which features an indoor Olympic-size pool, racquetball courts and a state-of-the-art exercise facility for public use. Visit O'Fallon Museum for a glimpse of vintage clothing, dinosaur fossils, and the world's largest steer.
