Cabin Fever Quilters Quilt Show - Superior
Friday, August 03, 2012
- Saturday, August 04, 2012
"Decade of Reflection" is the eleventh annual quilt show held by the Cabin Fever Quilters of Mineral County, Montana. The theme of the show commemorates the 10th anniversary of the guild which is being celebrated all year. The quilt show is held in conjunction with the Mineral County Fair in Superior, MT. The dates are August 5 and 6 this year.
The show exhibits quilts made by local quilters using a wide variety of techniques. The 2011 round robin quilts will be on display. Quilts made by the past ten presidents of the guild will be shown. Each president is presented with friendship blocks from guild members at the end of the year. They often have a theme depending on a favorite color or special interest of the president.
The service project of the guild will support the DeBorgia Historic Schoolhouse Foundation. The foundation will use the donation to augment funds to repair, sand, and paint the entire exterior of the 1908 school. A quilt will be raffled called "Decade of Reflection" also in commemoration of the 10th anniversary of the guild. The quilt is made using one block from each of the ten previous raffle quilts that have been made. Tickets are available at Mineral County events and from Guild members. The winner will be announced August 6 at 6:00 pm.
The featured quilter will be Patricia McKague of St. Regis, Montana. She began sewing scrap quilts using old clothing while still in high school. After moving to St. Regis in 2000, a guild member invited her to a meeting and she has been making quilts using many different techniques and fabrics ever since.
Visitors to the show will have the opportunity to vote for their favorite quilts, shop the boutique of handmade items, enter a drawing for a basket of quilting fabric and tools, and win door prizes. The local vendors include The Quilting House of Thompson Falls, Mary Anne's Fabric of Plains, and Wild Abandon Quilt Shop(part of the Ghost Rails Inn) of Alberton.
After viewing the quilt show, visitors can enjoy the food, fun, and rodeo of the Mineral County Fair.
