Yellowstone Gateway Museum of Park County - Livingston

Come and see some of Montana's best-kept secrets! An array of fascinating local and nationally significant artifacts are displayed in a three-story schoolhouse. The 1906 North Side School is listed in the National Register of Historic Places.

Yellowstone Park: Rare, one of-a-kind artifacts from the 1860's to 1940's including stage coaches, W.H. Jackson chromolithographs, Fort Yellowstone bell and much more.

Lewis and Clark: Trace their mapped journey through the area. Read about the 13 members of 'Clark Down the Yellowstone' including Clark, York, Sacagawea, Charbonneau, Pryor, and all the others.

Wild West: See artifacts relating to Calamity Jane, Buffalo Bill Cody, the Plummer Gang, Texas Rangers, and Goodnight - Loving cattle trail.

Archeology: Study displays from three nationally important sites in Park County including the 11,500-year-old Anzick site burial and the largest Clovis cache ever found.

Northern Pacific Railroad: Artifacts from the 1880's through 1940's, which include the old time ticket office, century old caboose, F.J. Hanes photographs and specialized tools used in daily operations.

Geology: Displays include rocks, fossils, minerals, and mining that ranges from 3.5 billion years ago to the present! Century old mining equipment and union memorabilia are included.

Pioneer Living: Learn about the 'items of convenience' that made life easier from the century old black smith shop, wheel-right tools, pre-electric kitchen and housekeeping utensils, fire fighting carts, log schoolhouse, hand built wagon and much more.

Military: Look at artifacts from the 1860's through WW I and II, including the first Crow Agency of Fort Parker, Little Big Horn, as well as Civil and Spanish-American Wars.

The diversity of displays are impressive in our three-story 1906 North Side Schoolhouse. It is like pioneering on the Bozeman Trail!! Come on in and take a stroll.
